Created in 1910 by F. Puaux and Edmond Hugues, the Desert Museum is established in the birthplace and home of Camisard leader, Pierre Laporte, known as Roland.
Situated in the heart of the lower Cevennes, in the Mas Soubeyran, a hamlet in the commune of Mialet, it retraces a long chapter of Protestant history, which had a great impact on the region : the Desert period.
The museum also serves to bear witness to the Protestant identity that is revealed throughout this history.
